Happy Thanksgiving!

The Holidays can be a time of joy but there is also a lot of stress that comes with the Holiday Season.  Here are some tips to help you get through the Holiday Season with your sanity still intact with some information on how to incorporate these Holiday helpers!  I call it the Let's Get "REEL" For The Holidays (R-Rest, E-Eating, E-Exercise, L-Lists) so you can enjoy the "REAL" Things That Matter!

~Make sure you are getting enough rest-  Sleep is so important to our body but when things are busy it is even more important that you get enough sleep!  How do you do that?  Well, there never seems to be enough time in the day to do everything on the "To Do" list.  During the Holiday season I try to lessen the workload by incorporating activities that are meaningful and important (saying "No" can be a good thing), I delegate when I can and I really like to  do "swaps" (its a little like bartering.  I exchange something I need in exchange for something I can offer.  For example, if I am making banana bread, I make a second loaf in exchange for a pie that my friend is making.  That way I have a pie and bread and only had to bake bread!)

~Eat well- Keeping your nutrition up is vital to maintaining good health and energy.  Be intentional in your eating over the Holiday Season by keeping healthy food readily available in the pantry like nuts and tuna and in the refrigerator like mini carrots, apples and peanut butter.  Set yourself up for success!  In my earlier blogs I posted a great chia recipe and a great tuna recipe that you can make for quick and easy snacking and will be good for 3 days.  Eat a healthy meal before going to Holiday parties, keep up your vitamin routine and lastly drink lots of water to stay hydrated.

~Exercise- During the Holiday Season is the most important time to remember our bodies!  With all the stress, parties, and extra things to do, it is so important to remember to take a short walk, stretch for 10 minutes or any physical activity you can fit in to help clear your mind and encourage movement!

~Make lists- Making lists is a really good idea all the time but really important when many things need to be done in a short period of time.  Essentially the definition of the Holiday Season!

I hope you have a wonderful Holiday Season filled with activities you enjoy to celebrate!

Take time for yourself so that you can fully enjoy your friends and family and remember that the Holidays are not about perfection but about the ones we love!
